You’re on your third website makeover in two months. You dropped $$$ on a new template and spent five precious hours setting it up. Again.
Let me guess, you…
- Talked to a coach who gave you website advice
- Posted your site in a Facebook group for feedback
- Aren’t getting the results you want from your site – it must’ve been that old template, right?
Data vs. Feelings
In other words, you’re making changes based on feelings, not data. And it’s wasting your time.
To help you get out of this trap, I wanted to share one of my favorite (free!) tools with you. It takes 5 minutes to install and will permanently change the way you make design decisions.
It’s called Crazy Egg and it lets you see your website through the eyes of your users. Where are they clicking? How are they interacting with your site? Where are they getting lost?
Crazy Egg generates heat maps. These maps look like a bunch of confetti and can help you visualize where people are clicking on your site. See all those dots? They're clicks that help you see what your users are doing and make informed design decisions. Here's an example of what it looks like:
This information is GOLD and you shouldn’t be making changes to your site without it. After all, your users are your #1 peeps and tickets to a thriving online business. You need to know what's going on with them.
Crazy Egg offers a 30 day free trial, so head on over to crazyegg.com and give it a try! (I’m not an affiliate; this is genuinely a tool that I love and use in my own business).
Now I’d love to hear from you – how do you decide to make changes to your website? Are you in camp feelings or camp data? (For the record, I’m a bit of both).
Let me know in the comments.
